Photography is more than just a simple picture. For those who cannot travel, it’s a way to see the world. For those who have lost love ones or never got a chance to meet their ancestors, it’s a form of time travel. For those, like me, it’s a way to save a moment; to capture memories and light.
The Greek translation for photograph (photo – light, graph – write/draw) is the perfect translation of what a true photographer does. They are an artist who draws and/or writes with light. A photographer takes that moment, uses light to make it travel through time. That moment, yes, that one that just passed, is now gone. A photograph defies time and brings the past back to life.
